You will know when it is done cook by the look and feel of the tail. Raw lobster meat is see-through, but when cooked the meat is opaque. Also make sure to feel of the meat. Does it feel squishy? This is a sign that it is not yet done and may require some more time cooking.

You can cook lobster tails both on high and low heat. Low heat is the preferred method of most chefs because steaming is quick. High heat is used to create a smoky flavor. The temperature that you cook the lobster tail at will greatly affect the taste and texture of the meat. It is important that you regularly check it while it cooks to ensure that it is cooking evenly and properly.
