How To Get A Passport

How To Get A Passport – Step 1:
Get the government form to obtain a new US passport at the following site or at a US post office

Step 2:Complete the application.
Step 3:Get a proof of U.S. citizenship such as:

* Certified U.S. birth certificate issued by the city, county or state (not a copy – call the government of the state in which you were born to get an official version with a notary’s seal. Learn what to do if you don’t have a birth certificate.
* Records of birth abroad
* Naturalization certificate
* Certificate of citizenship

Step 4:Get a second proof of U.S. citizenship such as:

* Previous US passport (altered or damaged passports are not okay)
* Naturalization certificate
* Certificate of citizenship
* Current, valid:
o Driver’s license
o Government ID: city, state or federal
o Military ID: military and dependents

Step 5:Get two photos and they must be:

* Identical
* In color
* 2 x 2 inches in size
* Taken within the past 6 months, showing current appearance
* Full face, front view with a plain white or off-white background
* Between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head
* Taken in normal street attire:
o Uniforms should not be worn in photographs except religious attire that is worn daily
o Do not wear a hat or headgear that obscures the hair or hairline
o If you normally wear prescription glasses, a hearing device, wig or similar articles, they should be worn for your picture
o Dark glasses or nonprescription glasses with tinted lenses are not acceptable unless you need them for medical reasons (a medical certificate may be required)

Step 5: Bring your Social Security number.
Step 6: Prepare to pay to pay almost 200 bucks in application fee
Step 7: Find the passport office location or post office nearest you and bring everything with you.
